Since 1898

The building remembers more than we do

The pub sits in a building put up in 1898 by E. P. West and Company, though most people around here still remember it as Carey’s Department Store. When the room was renovated the original brick came back into the light, brick that was hauled into Clarkesville by horse and buggy.

The rest of what you see on the walls was collected over the years: a confiscated moonshine still, the hand carved bar, and a canoe from a movie that was filmed just up the road.

The restaurant is very quaint and decorated with relics from the area. It was a real treat to see them and the original brick walls.
