The pub
A family friendly pub in a building that has been standing on West Water Street since 1898, with most of its history still hanging on the walls.
Built in 1898, and still standing
The building went up in 1898, put there by E. P. West and Company. Ask anyone who grew up in Habersham County and they will not call it that. They will tell you it was Carey’s Department Store, and they will probably tell you what they bought there.
When the room was renovated for the pub, the original brick came back into the light. That brick was hauled into Clarkesville by horse and buggy, and it is the same wall you lean against now while you wait on a table.
The pub itself opened in 2022. The building is the old part. We are the new part.
Established 2022
An 1898 building, a bar carved by hand, and a pub that has only been here a few years. The room is a great deal older than we are.
The bar was carved by hand
The bar is hand carved and it is the piece everyone notices first. Behind it sits the back bar, the taps and a wall of bottles, and above it the OTP seal.
Most of what fills the rest of the room was collected over the years. Local pieces, picked up one at a time, that say something about this corner of Georgia.

On the walls
Three things in this room are worth walking over to look at. Nobody will mind if you do.
The canoe
A canoe that inspired the film Deliverance, which was shot on the rivers not far from this room.
The banjo
Signed by Billy Redden, who played the banjo in Deliverance. His picture hangs next to it.
The still
The last remaining still recovered in Habersham County, confiscated and now retired above the bar.
